Stories of Empowerment

Empowering Lady Artisans
Pooja Karmakar-Dhokra Artisan
In a small sleepy tribal village of Burdman, Bengal, Pooja Karmakar, a skilled Dhokra artisan has transformed her life and craft. Once limited to selling at the local market, Pooja now creates exquisite, handcrafted jewellery that reaches customers globally, both online and offline. She is not just earning better and educating her children but also mentoring other young women in her village.
“Earlier, I only knew how to make. Now, I also know how to value my work, and myself.” - Pooja Karmakar
Her story is a reminder that when tradition is honored and supported, it creates joy beyond one artisan. -
Empowering the Visually impaired
The visually impaired artisans of the Blind Relief Association
Empowerment in Every Candle - At the Blind Relief Association, something beautiful is taking shape- crafted not by sight but by skill, scent and soul. The artisans are hand-pouring fragrant soy candles that now travel the globe- lighting homes and creating joy.
“I can’t see the candle, but I know its fragrance reaches far. That’s how I know my work matters.”
Through workshops and market support, these artisans earn with dignity and create with pride-proving that ability shines brighter than disability.
Candles and Diyas
The candles crafted by the visually impaired community exemplify the beauty found in imperfection. Each Diya/Candle is infused with love and care, carrying immense joy within.
By choosing to gift these candles, you actively support the undaunted, resilient spirit of these brave artisans, bringing cheer to their lives.
Toda Products Accessories
The Todas, a pastoral tribe residing in the Nilgiris, are renowned for their distinctive embroidery featuring red and black threads on a white background. This unique embroidery was granted the GI status in 2013. When you choose to gift Toda products, you pay homage to the timeless Toda tradition and passion that infuses the soul of the Nilgiris, contributing to the preservation of this heritage art.
Dhokra Products
The Dhokra art form, with a history of approximately 4000 years, is a significant heritage from the Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro civilizations. Crafted by the Dhokra Damar community, particularly the Karmakars, this art employs traditional wax casting techniques to create exquisite brass artifacts. Gifted pieces of Dhokra Art contribute to the preservation of the community's craft, encapsulating stories of heritage and resilience. The art reflects emotions transformed into timeless pieces, resonating with the cultural heartbeat that flows through the skilled hands of artisans.
Sholapith Craft Items
The Malakar community is engaged in Shola craft. Malakars use the white pulp of the stem of shola plant which is grown in the marshy lands of Bengal. They invest long hours to carve out details and engrave exotic designs on sholapith with hand operated simple tools.
When you gift a sholapith you help this community, fighting a daily battle to survive. You also help preserve a divine art form which is believed to be the progeny of Lord Vishwakarma.
