The Toda runner is beautifully hand embroidered, optionally with tassels and is crafted by the Toda community, a pastoral tribe living in the hills of Nilgiris.
The Toda community is famous for their embroidery known as "pukhoor" which means flower. The Toda embroidery is an art work made exclusively by their women and is certified GI. This form of embroidery is distinctive as it is based on thread count. Both sides of the embroidered fabric are equally beautiful with no signs of hanging threads or knots.
